Still running Windows XP? Microsoft has been supporting it for over 12 years but on April 8, 2014, that support will end. What that means is that your system will still run, but it will no longer receive any updates from Microsoft, so you may become more vulnerable to problems. Also, if you’re using Microsoft Security Essentials, updates will no longer be provided for that either. The solution? If your system is doing what you want it to do, you can just keep using it but if you want to install any newer software, it’s time to replace your computer and get a newer version of Windows. Fortunately, with a custom built desktop, you can get Windows 7 installed (just in case you really don’t want Windows 8). There are also some Windows 7 laptops still available as well.
